I made this simple FM radio by re-using a TV tuner from scrapped old CRT TV. It is a superhet with double mixing. Tuner type is Sony Espana BT-AC401, which is compatible with KSH1352 and UV1315. It outputs IF 39 MHz, it is subtracted from 48 MHz crystal oscillator frequency by a NE612 mixer IC. Resulting 10.7 MHz IF is passed to TBA120U. That one outputs audio signal which is too weak so it is amplified by a simple 2-transistor preamp. Tuning voltage is 5-17V which is made by a NE555 voltage doubler.
